This is a dinner for the Board at the Chinese School of Southern Westchester. I did not have the opportunity to try all the dishes below but the few that I have tried were delectable and delightful. The locale of Peter Pratt’s Inn is picturesque, complete with patio, outdoor grill, well-landscaped lawn and majestically tall trees. So great American cuisine and a beautiful location – appropriate for a semi-business dinner in Westchester.
Special for the night: A big strip of bacon. I know the way I described it here sounds terrible in comparison to the description that was provided by the waitress. I have a fundamental issue with eating that much bacon in one setting. Other than my objection, it was savory and tasty. Ate it together with the avocado and tomatoes – Yum. Spicy Lamb Meatballs: Tomatoes, onion, ginger, grilled nan.
Char Su Duck Spring Rolls: House made sweet chili sauce
Mango, Papaya with Crab Meat Salad: this was mine! It was perfect… and not the polite kind of “perfect” Americans tend to say to each other as a way of being cooperative and friendly. It was perfect in the way the mango and papaya complimented each other with opposing texture and sweetness; it was perfect in the way that the crab meat gave the fruits the juicy and savory taste. I loved it. A perfect harmony like a symphony.
If I were to put this dish in music, it would be Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony (No 4), first moment. The galloping during the first couple of mins is totally this dish. This symphony brings back so many memories… I played this piece as a second violin in an orchestra when I was 16 years old. Love each of the moments. Classical music is like math, love, peace, emotions, logic, mystery – all the best things this world has to offer. I highly recommend that you listen to the entire symphony. 🙂 #MendelssohnItalianSymphony
Charcuterie Plate: A little foie gras, duck prosciutto, local buratta, cured sausages, cheese (GF)
Grilled Angus NY Strip: House steak fries, GVOTD, bacon blue cheese butter (GF)
Pan Seared Catch of The Day (Flounder): Roasted tomato, white beans, pan sauce with white wine, lemon, capers (GF)
Seared U-10 Day Boat Sea Scallops: Sauce soubise, asparagus, new potato salad with truffle vinaigrette. This was mine! Scrumptious. Fresh. Umami filled.
Fettuccine with Lobster: most at the dinner liked it. I found it to be too heavy on the sauce, a tad too creamy. Lobster was fresh just the way you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber.
Would definitely return. Highly recommend it. Only one caveat – better bring your own friends. This is not a place where you come to meet new people.
