Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte in New York offers a unique steakhouse experience: they cut up your steak and assemble the meat for you! Or to put it with more of a marketing spin, this is what their site says, “In collaboration with the original Le Relais de Venise in Paris, we bring the famous Porte Maillot steak frites with secret house sauce and savory green salad to New York City.”
There is no menu. They offer steaks. You tell them how you want your steak cooked. Simple.
Here is the simple green salad. It was better than expected judging from the way it looked.
Here is the steak: cut up at a station by a waitress first; added the secrete sauce; added the French fries from a big container and then brought to your table. Kind of interesting to see how each plate was assembled. Both the meat and sauce were good.
The restaurant itself reminded me of the French bistros in France. It was a great experience. The food was authentically French as was the ambiance. Really glad that my friend introduced me to the restaurant. Simplicity with quality always wins!
